Skoda Octavia RS 2025: Twenty-five years ago, the first-generation Octavia introduced the Czech brand Skoda to India, and since then, every generation of the car has been sold here.
However, Skoda India discontinued the fourth-generation model in early 2023; the good news is that it is making a comeback this year.
What better way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Skoda India than with the car that started it all?
Skoda Octavia RS 2025
The face-lifted fourth-generation model will come in sporty RS guise but will be sold as a fully-built unit, priced at around Rs 50 lakh.

While the regular Octavia has a bevy of engine options –petrols, diesels, CNG, and hybrids – the RS makes do with the familiar E888 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which, for the fourth generation, has new piston skirts and tweaks to the crankshaft and crankcase.
And in the RS, its power is up by 20 hp to 265 hp, while the peak torque is 370 Nm.

Feature and Tech
Given its sporty pretensions, Skoda had an Octavia for us at the Automotodrom Grobnik in Rzeszów. It’s a small circuit, but perfect for a car like this; an F1 track would slow the car down terribly.
Skoda claims a 0-100km/h time of 6.4 seconds, which is very quick for a family sedan. Put your foot down, and the power comes on enthusiastically, and you pull away gracefully.
The gearbox is quick, the 7-speed DSG unit could also be affected by the steering-mounted paddles, which seemed small; in RS form, I would have liked larger paddles.
Keeping up with the lead car driven by an ex-Skoda rally champ wasn’t a problem – but only because he wasn’t pushing it at all.
Still, we managed to cross the 200kph mark on the straight and rather easily, too, not surprising given that it had plenty more to give with its 250kph electronically limited top speed.
Design and Style
Although the interior of the face-lifted Octavia is largely the same, the big change is a new 13-inch touch screen that is clear and responsive to the touch.
Some controls, such as engine start-stop, are included on the screen; thankfully, some functions, such as drive-mode selection and HVAC, are done via buttons below.
Comfortable and for my small frame, the deep bolstering feels just right. The dashboard is also all-black, covered in neoprene and red stitching.
The three-spoke steering wheel has the RS logo at the bottom and the familiar scroll wheel that feels good to use.

Engine and Performance
The Skoda Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. According to a car review site, this engine produces 265 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque.
It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
According to the car review site, its top speed is 250 km/h. The engine also features a sports exhaust system and “feeling start” for a more engaging driving experience.

Price and Variants
Like its predecessors, the new Skoda Octavia RS will be priced higher than its regular sibling, which Skoda is working hard to bring to India after the RS is launched.
But these will come as CBUs, so expect a higher sticker price – we’ve heard it’s around Rs 50 lakh for the RS.
Surprisingly, Skoda tells us that instead of importing a specific number of cars, it will go to customer orders.
