Royal Enfield Himalayan 2026 – The Ultimate Adventure Bike Just Got Better!

Royal Enfield is working on a variety of motorcycles, and the electric Himalayan is also part of this plan. Although all its motorcycles fall in the premium lifestyle segment, the company believes that there is a place for electric vehicles as well.

A few months ago, we revealed the exclusive concept picture of the electric Himalayan, and this bike will likely be one of the first EVs from the brand after the electric Bullet to make its world debut.

The company plans to take a top-down approach with its EV plans – first, launch the most expensive and exclusive motorcycles, and then, launch affordable bikes in the coming years.

Since RE has a very strong lineup, this route will help it build excellent brand recall and image, as then it won’t have to worry about its sales from ICE bikes.

Feature and Tech

That being said, we believe Royal Enfield will not launch an electric bike anytime soon, as it does not want to be one of the first companies to adopt EVs. There are a lot of ICE products in the pipeline, and some of them have been delayed a lot.

Royal Enfield would like to sort this out first and then launch its EVs. Royal Enfield would want to sort that out first, followed by its EV launch. But there’s a high chance of the brand unveiling an electric bike in a concept form sometime next year.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric, which is currently under development (codenamed Him-E), is expected to be an adventure-focused electric motorcycle, based on the design and capabilities of the petrol-powered Himalayan.

It will be powered by a 13.3 kWh battery pack that will offer a realistic range of 150-200 km and a top speed of 165 kmph. The Him-E is expected to retain key design elements of the petrol model, including spoked wheels, lean suspension, and a rally-style dashboard

  • Battery: 13.3 kWh lithium-ion batteries.
  • Range: 150-200 km (real-world).
  • Top Speed: 165 kmph.
  • Weight: Around 202 kg (slightly heavier than the petrol Himalayan 450)

Design and style

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric, in its latest prototype (2.0) form, bears a lot of similarities with the current Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, especially in its ADV (adventure touring) design language.

It features a tall windscreen, a round LED headlight, and a frame-like structure where the fuel tank would be on an ICE model, all of which contribute to its robust, adventure-ready aesthetic.

The design also incorporates updates like a new UI for the display, electronic suspension, and gold-colored wire-spoke rims.

Here’s a more detailed look at the design and style elements:

  • The Himalayan Electric 2.0 is heavily influenced by the design of the existing Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, including its ADV styling cues.
  • The overall silhouette and key components, such as the windscreen, headlight, and frame structure, have been designed to evoke the familiar Himalayan look.

Engine and Performance

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is currently available with a 452cc liquid-cooled engine. However, the company is also developing an all-electric version, the Him-E, which is currently in the prototype and development phase.

The Him-E is expected to feature a 13.3 kWh battery pack and offer a real-world range of 150-200 km.

  • Engine Type: 452cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC, 4 valves.
  • Power: 40.02 PS (29.44 kW) @ 8000 rpm.
  • Torque: 40 Nm @ 5500 rpm.
  • Starting System: Electric.

Price and Variants

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric is expected to be launched in India in December 2026, with an expected price between ₹ 700,000 and ₹ 800,000. Currently available bikes similar to the Himalayan Electric include the Moto Morini X-Cape, Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE, and Honda Transalpine XL750.
