Polestar 5 (2025) Revealed: Tesla Killer with Insane Performance & Luxury Design!

Polestar 5 (2025): Volvo sub-brand Polestar has previewed the final production version of its new 5 Grand Tour in a ‘behind the scenes’ video, showing how its design will evolve from the striking Precept concept.

Overview of Polestar 5 (2025)

Polestar’s UK R&D centre has become a development hub for the ground-breaking Precept model, as the firm moves forward with the launch of a production car in 2024.

Design work is still ongoing, and at this early stage, it’s clear the production car will feature a more sloping roofline, physical door handles, more subtly integrated side skirts, and a mildly redesigned rear end.

Design and Style

Exterior designer Nahum Escobedo said, “There are still a lot of things we need to solve,” but he stressed that the design changes would be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. “From concept to construction, we are very close to that idea,” he said.

The 5 was confirmed for production following a close preview by Precept last year, which was originally used to showcase the ambitions of Volvo‘s sibling brand.

Some innovative materials were used, with sustainability being the key theme – flax-based composites reduced weight by up to 50 percent, and plastics by up to 80 percent.

The nose features Polestar’s ‘Smart Zone’, a body-colour panel that hides sensors for the car’s driver assistance systems. It’s an innovation that former design boss Maximilian Mission is particularly proud of:

“It took a lot of effort to integrate these systems under the body color panels,” he said. So much effort that it actually has a small ‘Smart Zone’ label on it – already seen on the Polestar 3 and 4.

Feature and Tech

The front wheel arches extend outwards, and there is a deep rim around the front air inlets that flows around the full circumference of the car’s lower edge.

This dark plastic border creates a scalloped effect on the door edges, and the glasshouse remains slim for a sporty effect.

  • A slim styling element protruding from the rear glass area visually lengthens the roofline and enhances its striking look.
  • The 5’s low, elongated look has been achieved despite the need to fit a large battery pack under the floor.
  • Unsurprisingly, the ‘suicide’ rear doors of the Precept concept car, which formed the basis for the Polestar 5 in 2020, don’t make it into production, although the huge glass roof that is becoming a Polestar trademark and the distinctive tail-light bars do.

Engine and Performance

The Polestar 5 is an upcoming all-electric four-door GT car that will feature a high-performance dual-motor powertrain. It is expected to produce 884 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque with 8an 00-volt architecture.

Price and Variants

The Polestar 5 is an upcoming, all-electric, high-performance grand tourer (GT) car expected to be available in 2025. It will feature a brand-specific aluminum space frame chassis and new electric motors, including P10 motors with a built-in two-speed transmission.

While exact pricing details haven’t been finalized yet, it’s anticipated that this will be the most expensive vehicle in Polestar’s lineup, potentially starting at $90,000 and reaching up to $150,000 with fully loaded trims.
