About a month ago, we reported that Mahindra is planning to introduce new variants in the XEV 9e line-up, primarily aimed at making the larger 79kWh battery pack a little more accessible. Now, a recent filing by Mahindra on the government’s transport website confirms our report, while also giving details about the upcoming variants.

  • A 79 kWh battery will be made available on the Pack Three Select trim.
  • The top-spec Pack Three will also get a smaller 59kWh battery.
  • A similar update is expected on the BE 6 soon.

Features & Tech

Currently, the larger 79 kWh battery on the Mahindra XEV 9e is offered only with the top-spec Pack Three trim, while all the lower trims come with a 59 kWh battery pack.

  • With the update, Mahindra will offer a 79kWh battery with the second base Pack Three Select trim; whereas, the top-spec Pack Three trim will get a 59kWh battery option.
  • Hence, Mahindra should also price the Pack Three trim more competitively. Pack Three exclusively comes with the ADAS suite and head-up display, but speaking to Autocar India, the company’s executive director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sectors), Rajesh Jejurikar, had earlier said that customers are preferring range over features.

Engine and Performance

  • The XEV 9e is currently available in four trims: Pack One, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three. There are two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh.
  • The first model produces 231hp/380Nm and has a range of 542km; the second model produces 286hp/380Nm and returns 656km (ARAI); both are rear-wheel-drive only
  • The 59kWh battery pack produces 228bhp and 380Nm, while the 79kWh pack offers 286hp and 380Nm.

Design & Style

  • The XEV 9e features a coupe-SUV body shape with heavily flared wheel arches and triangular LED headlamps finished in glossy black.
  • The face is dominated by vertical LED DRLs, and wheel sizes range from 19 inches to 20 inches. It gets the signature Mahindra connected tail lamps at the rear.
  • The interior gets a white and black theme.
  • The 2024 XEV 9e gets a three-screen setup on its dashboard.
  • Other notable features include a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS suite, 65W USB Type-C charging port, and rear AC vents.
  • The 2024 XEV 9e gets a three-screen setup on its dashboard. Also up for offer will be OTA updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Harman Kardon-sourced 16-speaker music system, and automatic climate control.

Mileage & Fuel Efficiency

The Mahindra XEV 9e offers a range of 542 to 656 km on a single charge, depending on the battery pack chosen. This is the ARAI mileage, and the actual range may vary depending on driving conditions and driving style. The XEV 9e is an all-electric coupe SUV with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack options.
