Yamaha India has recently posted a new video on their social media platforms featuring the latest version of Yamaha’s ‘Call of the Blue’ theme song.

Like the previous ‘Call of the Blue’ videos, this one also features many Yamaha bikes. In addition to the models already available in India, the teaser also showcases the Yamaha XSR 155, MT-09, Tenere 700, and the NMax scooter, which are not yet available in India.

We expect Yamaha to launch the Tenere 700 and MT-09 in India by the end of the year, in December 2023.

But there is no solid info for the NMax scooter’s launch, and it is less likely to come to India anytime soon. However, we hope Yamaha brings the XSR 155 to India.

Design & Style

Looking at the incredible demand for the XSR 155, the Japanese brand introduced its Indianhead version, the FZ X, in June 2021.

However, this FZ FI-based offering never really set the sales chart on fire owing to its lower performance and desirability as compared to the XSR 155, which is based on the more capable and performance-oriented R15.

Now, Yamaha might finally be ready to cater to the demand and bring the XSR 155 to India as a part of its portfolio restructurin,g which may also include launching some big bikes like the YZF-R7 and MT-09.

Engine & Performance

  • The XSR 155 boasts a very likable neo-retro design, which is inspired by its bigger XSR siblings.
  • Built around the Delta box frame, it is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve engine that produces 18.1 bhp and 14.2 N m.
  • This motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch.
  • The hardware package comprises 17-inch wheels, USD forks, a monoshock, and a single disc brake at both ends with dual-channel ABS.

Features & Tech

  • The Yamaha XSR 155 comes with a neo-retro roadster design that looks fantastic.
  • It features a muscular fuel tank that complements its overall look.
  • The bike gets a flat single-piece seat without any grab rails.
  • Its retro look is enhanced by the round LED headlight and round tail light.
  • The XSR 155 has a chunky exhaust and is equipped with block pattern tyres.
  • It even gets an inverted fork and a rear monoshock.

Mileage & Fuel Efficiency

The Yamaha XSR 155 is known for its good fuel efficiency, with an ARAI mileage of 48.58 kmpl. Some owners report even higher mileage, with some claiming 100 kmpl. This suggests that the XSR 155 can be a fuel-efficient choice for daily commuting and long rides.

Price & Variants

The Yamaha XSR 155, a street bike, is expected to launch in India with an estimated price range of Rs 136,000 to Rs 140,000. It is expected to be offered in a single variant, the XSR 155 STD, with a price tag of Rs 180,000. XSR 155 STD: This is the only variant expected to be offered.
